Secure in Heart is one of the most spiritually illuminating books I’ve ever read.  Reading it has helped to shine a light deep within my soul, allowing me to see, understand, and sort out messy emotional issues in a very clear and compassionate way.  Profound truths are revealed through easy-to-understand language and vividly illustrated through personal stories.  The perfectly-chosen Bible verses that are interwoven throughout the book provide insight into God’s unfailing love and the unshakable security that only He can give.

One of the things I like best about the book is the incredible insight into Satan’s deceptive schemes.  In a war, it is always wise to know your enemy and his tactics.  Through Robin’s many battles she has learned a great deal about our enemy and does an excellent job explaining his strategies.  She then shows us how to demolish Satan‘s fortresses in our hearts by knowing God, trusting God, and surrendering to God.  Secure in Heart has taught me that when it comes to spiritual warfare, surrendering to Satan brings suffering and regret, while surrendering to God brings strength and victory.

As a single man, reading Secure in Heart was encouraging because it helped me realize that I cannot and need not be all things to a woman.  I know I can’t always be a strong, loving, successful provider – but God can.  The best thing that I can do for a woman is to help build up her relationship with God and at the same time to strengthen my own walk with God so that I can be the man He has called me to be.  The words, “on Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand” came to mind, because I was reminded that true security can only be found through faith in Jesus Christ.  A relationship based on anything less will be on sinking sand.

One more part of Secure in Heart that really jumped out for me personally was on page 108 when Robin said that she “asked God to create a new heart in me with a pure motivation.”  I want that to be my prayer too because I know that’s the kind of prayer that God loves to answer!  To have a pure, God-honoring motivation behind every decision is something I can’t do without God’s help, but Secure in Heart has helped me understand that I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13).  It is an amazing book that I highly recommend to everyone!
